About Us
catherine roberts
I bring more than two decades of experience supporting adolescents, adults, and families through periods of challenge, change, and growth. With a background in psychology and a master's degree in social work, I have worked in a range of settings, helping individuals build practical stress-management skills, emotional steadiness, and confidence in their daily lives. Early in my career, I helped develop a skills-based program focused on understanding behavioral patterns, managing strong emotions, and moving toward personal goals with greater clarity and resilience. Since 2019, I have worked at Prisma Health Upstate, where I serve as faculty member and Psychotherapy Training Director for the Prisma Health/University of South Carolina Residency Program. I am involved in curriculum development, leading skills groups, providing one-on-one care to clients, and have been recognized in my work training future psychiatrists in thoughtful, compassionate approaches to care. My work is collaborative and nonjudgmental, with an emphasis on readiness, coping, and helping people feel more capable and balanced as they navigate life’s demands.

I am a writer, editor, and creative professional with more than two decades of experience shaping stories on the page and in the world. With a bachelor’s in advertising from the University of Georgia and an MFA from Sarah Lawrence College, I started my career in New York City advertising agencies. For the past ten years I have worked in educational marketing at Christ Church Episcopal School. Alongside my professional work, I have coached students on undergraduate and graduate application essays, helping them find clarity, voice, and confidence. My essays have been recognized nationally, including a Notable Selection in Best American Essays, a Pushcart Prize nomination, and multiple literary awards and scholarships. I have also served as a writer-in-residence in a variety of schools and as a student-writing contest judge —experiences that continue to inform my approach to writing and mentorship.
