BEYOND THE BLANK PAGE 

FINDING YOUR FOOTING, FINDING YOUR VOICE

In this four-hour workshop, students will move between the practical work of uncovering their stories and generating real essay directions, and the inner work of managing the anxiety and vulnerability that often make starting feel impossible. 

By the end of the day, students will leave with:

• A clearer sense of who they are so they can replace "What do colleges want to hear? with "What do I want to say?"

• Viable essay directions grounded in their own experiences

• At least one piece of freewriting they can actually build on

• Practical tools for managing overwhelm and self-doubt

• Connection with their peers and the knowledge that they are not alone on this journey

Beyond the Blank Page runs with just 5–6 students. Because this kind of work requires trust, safety, and space to be honest, students are encouraged to come with friends who are navigating the same process — it makes the experience richer for everyone.
